PVF Break
The boys and girls are really enjoying the PVF Break! Please make sure your child has a fruit, vegetable or protein only. Things like granola bars, fruit chips, fruit snacks and veggie straws do not contain the nutrients, vitamins and fiber that whole fruits and vegetables provide for us. One of the ways your child is working on independence is being able to pick out a healthy snack for him/herself. This will carry over into healthy eating as an adult so it is great practice right now! If your child struggles with eating whole veggies, send in some hummus as a healthy dipping sauce to go with carrots or celery.
Memory Work
Please make sure to practice Memory Work with your child each week. We always go over it at the beginning of the week and make up moves to go with the words that help us remember, but after that we don't really have time to work on it anymore at school. If I have to help your child with more than a couple of words, it tells me it still needs to be practiced. If your child has a note next to the verse, they can still say it to me whenever they are ready, but I won't ask about it since the next week we have moved onto another verse. A GREAT time to practice is in the car on the way to school!

We've been learning about school rules and getting along with each other. We created posters to hang around the school to remind others of the ways we should act!

We started the Author's Chair this week! If students finish a story, they can sign up to read it to the first graders.
We practiced writing sentences with a capital letter at the beginning and a period at the end.
We LOVE mileage club, too!
