News and Notes:
Early Release
Next Wednesday, September 18th will be a half day. School will be dismissed at noon so that teachers can have professional development all afternoon.
Fluency Reading Books
Starting Monday, I will send home this in the front of your child's folder with a book written and in the sleeve for you to have your child read at home. This is meant to be an easier book for your child and after reading it a couple of times, your child can be able to read it fluently, paying attention to ending marks and using voice inflection. Feel free to write me notes if you'd like on your child's fluency progress. I always read them. I will collect the books at the end of the week and send a new one home again on Mondays. If your child is in LLI, I will not send a book home unless you request me to. Please do not write any other book titles on this reading log. The reading calendar for each month is meant for you to do that, but not this one.
Speech Screening
I will send home this speech screening form on Monday for you to consider getting your child screened. There is no harm in doing it just to make sure your child is where they should be in speech at his/her age. If your child is fine, they will just tell us that, but if your child has areas of concern, it is better to look into it now rather than later.

We had so many cool things at our Discovery Table this week!
Each week we'll send the items home. If your child wants to bring in something else from nature, he/she can anytime!

We learned about September 11, 2001. We read a book that gave hope just like how the people of our country worked together after the tragedies. We also learned about a school right next to the twin towers who had to move to a different building and how they thanked others for so much support!
Mr Debrick came in a taught us a few things on Thursday.
We worked on a plane project in remembering 9/11 by trying to make a paper airplane that flies well. We used different kinds of paper, tape, paper clips, and even scissors to try and create a great flying paper airplane.
We are on our way up Bobcat Mountain!
Hula Hoops in PE
We love celebrating birthdays!
