Scholastic Book Order
Your child has a scholastic book order packet in the Friday folder. Orders are due January 9th. Please go online to order your books. The class activation code is GVN8W. Go to this link when ordering: https://orders.scholastic.com/GVN8W
Field Trip to Florissant Civic Center
We are going to see the play THE CAT IN THE HAT on Friday, January 18th. Permission form is in the Friday folder. Chris Cooper and Matt Aslin have signed up to go. Please let me know if you are no longer able to chaperone. We will eat lunch early in the classroom so that we can get there on time. Because of eating early, Hot Lunch will not be available to us that day since it won't be our eating time. Your child will need a cold lunch, but milk will be available if needed. Please return the permission form by next week.
Report Cards
Report cards will be sent home in the Friday folder next Friday, January 11th. Your child's 2nd quarter stories and sight word assessments were already sent home.
Donuts for Dads
Dads or a VIP can join us for donuts from 7:00-7:45am in the church basement on Wednesday, January 16th. Dads or VIP are invited to stay for Chapel from 8:15-8:45am.
100th Day Celebration
Friday, January 25th is our 100th Day of school celebration! We need many parent volunteers to help prep or run stations. Heather Horn has volunteered to be the lead parent. If you are able to help, please contact her as we need about 12 helpers from each class. If you are not able to help, we can also take donations and there is prep work, too. Contact her at: hhorn@zionharvester.org
We still need MANY cereal boxes! Thank for continuing to send those in!
Zion Open House
We will be having an Open House on Sunday, January 27th from 1-3pm. If you know someone who is looking for a great school, send them our way!
Photo Gallery:
We learned all about Epiphany.
The wise men followed a star that led them to Jesus. It reminds us that we follow Jesus, too!
We love reading books!
Wonder of the Week:
How do animals protect themselves from predators?
They fight predators.
They sting predators.
They have a hard shell.
They have a herd.
We love the sunshine!
Reading long and short vowel words!
We have to remember if there is sneaky e, the vowel says it's name!
Writing stories about our Christmas break!
Making new words from words we already know!
We wrote and drew how we think a fish protects itself from predators before we read about them!
Striking a ball with a padded stick in PE
Listening for long vowels in words game
Since we are leaning about how animals protect themselves from predators, we each brought in a stuffed animal and had to create a shield for it!
Showing many ways to cover a design.
Then we each presented our shields to the class and told how they protected our animal!
It was a fun two days!
