Scholastic Book Order
Your child has a scholastic book order packet in the Friday folder. Orders are due September 8th. Please go online to order your books. The class activation code is GVN8W. Go to this link when ordering: https://orders.scholastic.com/GVN8W
Sight Words
I will go through the sight word list with each first grader to see where he/she is at. I will send home a copy so that you know if any words need to be worked on for first quarter.
Friday Folder
The colorful Friday folder will be sent home each Friday. It will contain things from the week as well as notes from the office. Please go through the papers and empty out the folder before returning the following Monday. Please help your child correct and return any papers that say CAR at the top. Please fill out the Church/Sunday School form attached to the inside.
Literacy Stations
We worked on our literacy stations this week. I will collect the station papers and send them home with a rubric at the end of each month. You can see pictures on our blog. If your child's station is not done, it will be sent home on Friday for he/she to finish over the weekend.
Faith Family
This week we had our first faith family activity. Our devotion was about being living stones. Each of us is a living stone alive in the Lord and together we make a spiritual house dedicated to the worship of our Lord. We spent time decorating a stone to be used as an outdoor reminder that we are living stones and we stand in Christ. We then returned to chapel to celebrate baptismal remembrance for July, August and September.
