NEWS AND NOTES
Orange Book Bags:
Your child will come home each Monday with a different BOOK BAG.  The goal is to expose the class to various genres of books as well as have them spend time being read to and/or reading own their own.  Please feel free to keep the BOOK BAGS all week and weekend.  Please make sure the bags are brought back on Monday so that the next child can read the books in that bag.

Leveled Reading Books:
Starting next week, each Monday your child will bring home a book that is on your child's level and your child should be able to read it with minimal help.  Please have your child read these books, they should even read them several times.  This helps to build fluency and self confidence.  Please send the books back on Friday. Each week your child will receive a new book.

Guided Reading:
We had our first week of Guided Reading groups and they went well!  I look forward to enjoying many more books with the children this year.

Alphabet Videos:
Mrs. Helmkamp worked with our first graders this week to take pictures and then create videos about things in our classroom that started with the letters of the alphabet.

Spirit Day:
Our next spirit day is Friday, September 21.  We encourage the boys and girls, parents and teachers to dress to show school spirit!  Ask the kids who we are and they'll tell you...Bobcat Nation!
