Valentines Day at Breeze Park
We will be visiting the residents at Breeze Park on Valentines Day in the afternoon.  We will sing songs, hand out valentines we've made, and talk with the residents a little bit.  Thank you to our parent chaperones/drivers: Glosier, Hoffman, Johnson, Sinovich, and Swofford.  Please arrive a few minutes before we depart.  We aim to leave by 12:45.

Jumprope for Heart
Information was sent home in your child's Friday folder.  This event takes place on February 23rd from 9:10-10:10.  Excitement is building for our Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart Events.  Zion has participated in this fundraiser for the American Heart Association for 20 years.  Last year our enthusiastic students and their generous families  and friends raised over $16,000 to help fight heart disease in MO.  That was the second highest amount raised in our state by Jump/Hoops for Heart Schools.  Way to go Bobcats!
Parent volunteers are needed for our Kindergarten through 5th grade events.  Contact Mrs. Steinbacher at msteinbacher@zionharvester.org with any questions or to volunteer.  To register use our  online saw one direct URL link www2.heart.org/goto/zionlutheran or go to www.heart.org/jump
Donation envelopes should be turned in by Friday, Feb. 23rd or earlier.

Grandparents/Special Friend Day
Grandparents or Special Friend Day is scheduled for Friday, March 9th from 8-11am.  An invitation for your child to give is in the Friday folder.  Please plan on having a grandparent(s) or special guest attend.  Your child must have an adult present to participate in school that day.  This day is an early release day.
8:00-8:30 - Arrive to school
8:00-9:45 - Guests and students stay together and visit various stations around the school.  A map will
go home with the students and extra maps will be available that day.  Family units decide
where they want to start.  Each classroom will have a special activity.
**Zion asks that you stay together as a family unit for proper supervision.**
9:45-10:00 - Guests and students travel to church sanctuary
10:00-11:00 - Closing program and Chapel
11:00am - Dismissal from the church
This is a little different than in past years.  The family unit will stay together the whole time.  The students will arrive with the grandparents or special friend and go right into the schedule of various stations in the classrooms.  If you have any questions, please ask.

Indoor recess games

Bobcat Coupon!

Practicing our sight words!

We created really awesome valentine boxes!

We looked at different items that were in schools long ago.  One of the things we looked at was the desk!  It has changed so much over the years!

We are learning so much about verbs!  We learned a Verb rap, played verb charades, and then created verb scenes!  A verb is an action word!

Literacy Stations

We all chose one story to fancy up and get ready to show the world (well, our class at least), and publish!  On the day of our publishing party, we had a microphone and special light so that everyone could hear and enjoy the stories we worked so hard on!

We practiced our math facts!

After we learned about school long ago, we started thinking about the future.  We watch a show that takes place in the future and recorded observations of anything that was in the future.  The first graders really enjoyed watching THE JETSONS.

Fidget Friday puzzles!

We learned about how powerful God is!  He can command even the wind and waves.  We created a picture that retells the story of Jesus telling the wind and waves to BE STILL!

More jumprope in PE!

Singing and dancing at recess

Creating valentines for the residents at Breeze Park!  We are looking forward to our visit and sharing God's love with them!

It was a very busy, but fantastic week!
