News and Notes:

Boxtop Contest
SEND IN YOUR BOXTOPS!!  We have a bag to collect in our classroom.  :-)  They are due the 20th!

Jumprope for Heart
Information was sent home last week in your child's Friday folder.  This event takes place on February 23rd from 9:10-10:10.  Excitement is building for our Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart Events.  Zion has participated in this fundraiser for the American Heart Association for 20 years.  Last year our enthusiastic students and their generous families  and friends raised over $16,000 to help fight heart disease in MO.  That was the second highest amount raised in our state by Jump/Hoops for Heart Schools.  Way to go Bobcats!
Parent volunteers are needed for our Kindergarten through 5th grade events!!!  Contact Mrs. Steinbacher at msteinbacher@zionharvester.org with any questions or to volunteer.  To register use our  online saw one direct URL link www2.heart.org/goto/zionlutheran or go to www.heart.org/jump
Donation envelopes should be turned in by Friday, Feb. 23rd or earlier.
If your child has raised at least $5 in donations, they can wear athletic clothing on the 23rd!

Grandparents/Special Friend Day
Grandparents or Special Friend Day is scheduled for Friday, March 9th from 8-11am.  A dismissal form is in your child's Friday folder and needs to be returned.  Please plan on having a grandparent(s) or special guest attend.  Your child must have an adult present to participate in school that day.  This day is an early release day.
8:00-8:30 - Arrive to school
8:00-9:45 - Guests and students stay together and visit various stations around the school.  A map will
go home with the students and extra maps will be available that day.  Family units decide
where they want to start.  Each classroom will have a special activity.
**Zion asks that you stay together as a family unit for proper supervision.**
9:45-10:00 - Guests and students travel to church sanctuary
10:00-11:00 - Closing program and Chapel
11:00am - Dismissal from the church
This is a little different than in past years.  The family unit will stay together the whole time.  The students will arrive with the grandparents or special friend and go right into the schedule of various stations in the classrooms.  A map of activities is also in your child's Friday folder.   If you have any questions, please ask.
