Advent Service
First and Second Grades are leading the Advent Service on Wednesday, December 14th at 10:00am and 7:00pm. Please continue to practice with your first grader his/her speaking part - emphasis on loud and slow. For the morning service, students should just wear regular school clothes. For the evening service, students can wear church clothes. Please have your child in the church basement at 6:50pm to line up to enter the church as a class.
December Scholastic Book Order
The December Book Orders are in your child's Friday folder. Please place your order by December 8th to ensure delivery before Christmas. Books make great gifts! If you would like to keep your child's order a secret, let me know and I can give the books to you directly. The class activation code is GVN8W. Go to this link when ordering: https://clubs.scholastic.com
Christmas Party
Our room parents and the service project team are working hard to organize our Christmas party on December 22nd. We hope to help at a local food pantry. The details are still being worked out, but we look forward to helping in our community. We will also celebrate Jesus' birthday of course! More information to come soon!
Christmas Items Needed
We are doing many things in our classroom to explore and experience the Christmas season. This week, we played with various nativities and acted out the Christmas story. I just realized last week, that I gave my medium sized Christmas tree that I use in the classroom each year to Good Will, when my husband and I moved this past summer. If anyone has one we could use until Christmas break, we would borrow it from you until I get a new one. We also could use old wrapping paper, scotch tape and shoeboxes. All of these things we can use ASAP if you happen to have them available to you.

Before Thanksgiving, we visited our Buddy Class (Mrs. Linneman's Preschool Class) and helped them read a Thanksgiving book and create a bracelet to help tell the story.
Advent is here!
We created Advent Prayer Chains to help count down the days before Jesus' birth!
First, we created a list of people to pray for.
Then, we wrote the names on strips of paper
and created a chain.
We can hang these from our ceiling and each night before bed, tear off a link and pray for that person.
Christmas will be here soon!
