Author Visit
We will have a special guest the week will get back. The published author, Joanne Bader, will come to our room, tell us about being an author, read a few of her books, and then autograph a book for us. This will kick off our unit of writing that will end with us publishing a hard bound book. More info to come.
Field Trip to see a Play
Both first grades are going to Florissant Civic Center to see Lily's Purple Plastic Purse. We will be going on January 16th, so look for a permission form the week we get back. If you would like to chaperone, please let me know. We can only take 2 parents. We will use bus transportation.
In-School Field Trip - Zoo
On Friday January 9th, we will have the St. Louis Zoo come to our room to end our Science unit on Animals.
Love and Logic
Amy Bernhardt will be teaching a Love and Logic Parenting class on Sunday mornings at 9:30. The class will run 8 weeks beginning on January 11, 2015. The class will meet in the Discipleship room in the lower level of church.
What Is Love and Logic All About?
The Love and Logic Institute is dedicated to making parenting and teaching fun and rewarding, instead of stressful and chaotic. We provide practical tools and techniques that help adults achieve respectful, healthy relationships with their children. All of our work is based on a psychologically sound parenting and teaching philosophy called Love and Logic.
This practical and straightforward philosophy is backed with 30 years of experience. Parents can apply it immediately to a wide range of situations instead of struggling with difficult counseling procedures.

Thank you to our AWESOME parents for planning our Christmas service project/party: Mrs. Hugo, Mrs. Geil, Mrs. Hollowood, and Mrs. Schneider...AND for the volunteer parents who came to help: Mr. Buehrle, and Mrs. Collins - THANK YOU!!! You created a wonderful experience for our first graders!
Substitute Teacher
As you know, I am getting married on January 2nd and you are all invited to come and celebrate with us. If you are planning on coming, go directly downstairs after the ceremony so that I can see the first graders and enjoy a celebration toast with you all. I will be taking Monday and Tuesday off but will return on Wednesday. The boys and girls will have a wonderful substitute teacher for those first two school days in 2015.
