Spelling: No Spelling - However, starting the following week, we will count the Pattern Words for points that have been on he spelling test each week. Remember that these are words that the kids come up with as a class when we make words with the chunk, but aren't originally on the spelling test.

Please have your child bring in ONE APPLE no later than Tuesday. He/she will need it to investigate that day!
Parent Conferences
There is no school on Thursday due to parent conferences. If you have not contacted me to change your conference time, I am assuming that we are meeting at the time I sent out to you last week. Looking forward to meeting with each of you! I am really enjoying the first graders this year.
Fall Break
Friday there is no school! Enjoy your Fall break!
Johnny Appleseed Day
Tuesday is the day we celebrate Johnny Appleseed. We will do many enriching, fun activities all day. I have 3 volunteers lined up: Kvet - 2, and Collins. If anyone else is able to help out that day, let me know! I would need you from 9-11:30.
FISH Pantry
We have collected many things for the FISH pantry trip already! DOn't forget to send in one item with your child to take on Wednesday. I sent out the list last week so please refer to that. Our upcoming trip is on Wednesday. Please remember to send in a booster seat with your first grader if he/she needs one. I have all of the drivers lined up! Thank you for volunteering! We are looking forward to a great experience!
We Sing
On OCTOBER 26 at 11:00 in church, the first graders will sing! Please plan on having your child there. They always sing so beautifully! Children will need to be in the upper choir room at 10:45.
Red Ribbon Week October 27-31
To celebrate being healthy and drug free Student Council has giving us special dress up days:
Please wear regular dress code except when the day warrants a special shirt.
Monday, October 27: Turn Your Back on Drugs- wear your uniform backwards
Tuesday, October 28: Team Up On Drugs - wear your favorite sports team shirt with uniform bottoms
Wednesday, October 29: Drugs Will Make You Confused- wear mismatched shoes with your uniform
Thursday, October 30: The Choice for Drugs is Black and White- wear a black and white shirt with uniform bottoms
Friday, October 31: Ride the Wave of Drug Prevention - wear sunglasses and flowered leis with your uniform
There is also a poster contest. I am sending home a piece of paper on Monday and your child can make a poster.
The posters should send a positive message about being healthy and drug free. The poster should be colorful and creative. The 2014 National Theme is "Ride the Wave of Drug Prevention".
