Botanical Gardens Field Trip
Monday, Sept. 22nd is our trip to the Botanical Gardens. Chaperones need to be in the classroom by 8:15; you may just wait after you drop your child off if you would like. We will be taking a garden class, eating lunch, and taking a self tour at the Botanical Gardens. Children should wear the RED Rejoice, Pray, Give Thanks ZION T-SHIRT and BRING A SACK LUNCH: no peanuts or peanut butter please! We plan to eat in the provided classroom after the class, then go on a short tour.

Read, Read, Read
Reading is so important in First Grade. The best way to become a good reader is to READ, READ, READ! Thank you for helping your child become a good reader!
Bobcat Shuffle

Pokemon Cards
Unfortunately we had an incident at recess with the Pokemon cards so to make it easy, the first and second grade teachers have decided to say "no Pokemon cards at school." Thank you for your support in this matter.
Spelling Test
We tried pattern words this week on our spelling test as I explained at Back To School Night. They aren't counting right now, but we will continue to add them to practice. Just wanted to let you know when you see the spelling test on Monday.
Trunk or Treat
On Friday, October 10th we will have our Trunk or Treat event. This year three food trucks will serve up goodies so families can grab some dinner. There will be pizza, Mexican food and cupcakes, plus kid friendly options. So mark your calendars for some Zion family fun! Sign up information comes out soon.
