News and Notes:

Back To School Night
It was great to get a chance to talk to you at Back to School Night.  Thank you for making your child's education a priority and for the sacrifices you make to have your child in our Christian environment.  Please read through the handout as I wasn't able to go through EVERYTHING.

Spelling Test
We took our first spelling test today and the results are in your child's Friday Folder.  This was a practice test but we will begin recording the grades next week.  Please look at how it is graded.  The sentence must have all words spelled correctly, begin with a capital letter,  have no other capital letters, and end with an end mark.

Scholastic Book Club
Book orders magazines were sent home in the Friday folder.  An introduction letter was emailed to you.  Orders are due September 5th.  Please go online to order your books.  The class activation code is GVN8W.  Go to this link when ordering: https://orders.scholastic.com/GVN8W

Friday Cleaners
Thank you for those who volunteered to clean the room.  I hope to have the schedule done and emailed to you next week.

Mileage Club
Mrs. Steinbacher wanted me to share with you this information about Mileage Club.  The kids learned about it at PE today and will be able to start next Tuesday at Lunch recess.
Mileage Club
Our first, second, and third grade students were introduced to the Mileage Club during their Physical Education classes on Friday, August 29.  The Mileage Club is a fitness program that students may participate in during their lunch recess.  It involves walking/jogging around our cemetery path and keeping track of the laps as they are completed.  Every time a student finishes a card (21 laps/about 3 miles) they turn the card in to Mrs. Steinbacher and receive a plastic “footie”.  The “footies” are designed to be placed on shoestrings or chains.
The rest of the details are in a note in your child's Friday folder.

First Grade Singing
I apologize as we copied off last year's singing schedule.  Please throw away the schedule given last night and replace it with the revised schedule in your child's Friday Folder.
Here is the schedule:
October 26    11 AM     Church Service – Reformation
December 17    10 AM, 7 PM     Wednesday Advent 3
February 7    5 PM            Church Service – Epiphany 5
April 26      8 AM            Church Service – Easter 4

Memory Work
We noticed the second verse on the Memory Work schedule is incorrect.  Our copier was down
so we couldn't make new copies to hand out.  I will have those on Tuesday.  Please practice:
I praise you, for I am wonderfully made.  Wonderful are your works.  Psalm 139:14
