Reading Log
You will see in your child's homework folder that the reading log for September has been stapled into the pocket. Please read with and have your child read! Leveled Reading books have not been sent home yet and won't be for a couple more weeks.
Sight Word Assessment
I have pretested each child on the sight words for first grade for the first quarter. If your child missed one or more words from the first quarter list, he/she has a sight word packet to practice the words. Please work with your child. The words will be assessed again the first week in October. If your child did not bring home sight words to work on, I am continuing to assess him/her this week and will send home words to work on soon.
Dress Code
We have noticed several student wearing cargo shorts with big pockets on the legs. These are not part of our dress code. Students can wear any khaki, black, or navy blue shorts that do not have the big cargo pockets. Students should also wear polo shirts with no brand or pocket on the front. Thank you for working with us on this! If you have any questions about dress code, feel free to contact the school office.
Field Trip
Our first field trip is Friday, September 20th. We will be going to the Missouri Botanical Gardens from 8:30-1:30 to do a tour about plants. Permission form will be sent home soon! I am still waiting to hear how many chaperones I am able to take so I will just start at the top of the sign up list from Back To School Night and will let you know ASAP.

The first graders will sing at the 5pm church service on September 14th. Please have your child arrive in the music room in the church balcony to warm up by 4:40pm. Mrs. Roehrig has been working hard with your child each week!
