Passion Week
In Jesus Time, we are beginning to talk about the events that occurred up through Jesus' resurrection. The boys and girls are REALLY interested and have MANY questions. We've had some great conversations. I encourage you to help your child grow in his/her faith by talking about the different days during Holy Week.
This Sunday is a great opportunity. Please have your child join the Palm Sunday parade at church this weekend. Meet in the welcome center before the church service and march in with palms during the opening hymn. The Children's Message will be right away and then the children may join you in your seats.
March 24: PALM SUNDAY: Sat 5:00, Sun 8. 9:30 and 11
On Palm Sunday children meet in the Welcome Center in the
back of church, to be part of the parade.
March 28: MAUNDY THURSDAY:
THE LIVING LAST SUPPER: 3:30 and 7:00
March 29: GOOD FRIDAY: 3:30 and 7:00
March 30: SATURDAY VIGIL: 5:00

Don't forget that you are invited to the Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday from 10-12.
Let's hope the weather cooperates!
Science
Mrs. Bernhardt will give the Science Test over weather on Tuesday, March 26.
If your child followed directions, books should have come home Friday. The pages covered on the test are C24-C53. There are also several worksheets that are in the Friday Folders that should help you study. Your child should know the water cycle, a fact about each season, and a fact about one type of cloud.

Spelling
A reminder that there will now be past sight words on the spelling test. A packet was sent home for you to help you practice the sight words.
Easter/Spring Break
We will have a half day of school on Maundy Thursday and no school on Good Friday. School will be on break the entire following week and resume on April 8th.
Substitute Teacher
I will be out of the state on Wednesday, March 27th and Thursday, the 28th. There will be a substitute teacher. She has subbed many times at Zion and will do a fantastic job with the first graders. Her name is Mindy Hanke.

Making Palm Sunday Palm Branches
We wrote about chewing gum!
First, we came up with a sentence about
what chewing gum was like.
Then we "fancied it up" by adding more interesting words and wrote down our best sentences!
After our sentences, we drew self-portraits.
Lucas, that looks just like you!
We added "gum" to our final pictures with our fancy sentences. Come visit our room to check them out!
Mr. Marolf brought in a special visitor that
would be auctioned off on Friday night.
One of our classmates took the dog home after the auction! We can't wait to find out what name their family picks out.
We had our first Know and Tell presentation!
The boys and girls did a great job speaking and listening.
It's fun to hear about our mom's and dad's jobs.
They had good, thoughtful questions.
Thank you for helping your child prepare for this!
