News and Notes:

Julia's Birthday Party
The first graders are invited to celebrate Julia's Birthday with a Pajama Day on Thursday, May 16th.  Julia is a hard worker in the lunch room!  She washes dishes and gives each student a smile as they bring their dishes to her.  Your first grader can wear their pj's that day and we will stop by Julia's party in the Family Life Center sometime from 1-1:30pm.

Spring Musical
Here is the information regarding this year’s musical on Thursday, May 9th:
1)  We will have a dress rehearsal at 2:00 p.m on Thursday, May 9th in the church sanctuary for Zion students and any family members that want to attend.
2) The musical will take place at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 9th.  Please bring your child to the church basement at 5:45 p.m. Teachers will arrive at 5:45 p.m. so please do not send your child down any earlier.
3)  Dress for that Friday:
School Day:  Regular uniform
6 p.m. performance:  red Zion t-shirt and khaki bottoms (shorts, pants, or skirts)
4) Teachers are anticipating that students are at both performances.  Please let your child's teacher know if your child will not be attending both performances.

Faith Family Field Day
On Friday, May 17th, students in grades 1-8 will participate in a “Faith Family Field Day”.  We will eat a picnic lunch, play games, and have one last fun time with our Faith Families!  Zion will be providing cheese pizza from Domino's, goldfish and water for the picnic lunch.  If your child does not want that lunch or is unable to eat that lunch due to allergies, please have your child bring a cold lunch on Friday, May 17th.  Your child will also be spending the afternoon out in the sun, so please apply sunscreen in the morning before your child comes to school.  This will also be a SPECIAL SPIRIT DAY your child may wear a Zion/LHS t-shirt and non uniform bottoms!

Summer Reading Camp
To help prevent the summer slide, Mrs. Bernhardt will be having a summer reading camp.  This camp will focus on maintaining grade level reading and writing.  Each session will include reading, writing and an activity.  It will be held Tuesday mornings.  Mrs. Bernhardt would like to keep the session small, so there will be two sessions, 9-10:15 and 10:30-11:45.  The sessions will be on June 18, July 2, July 16, July 23 and July 30.  You may sign up for some or all of the weeks. The cost will be $15.00 a week.  If you are interested and would like to sign up, please to to the google doc form and put your name on the time and date you would like to attend.
