News and Notes:

We Sing
We sing THIS SUNDAY, October 15 at the 10:30am service.  We will meet in the upstairs balcony music room to practice at 10:20 (right after Sunday School). The class will come down for the children's message and then return to you for the rest of the service.  It might help to stand so your child can find you.  :-)

Johnny Appleseed Day
We will learn about his life an enjoy the world of apples on Tuesday, October 17th.  PLEASE SEND IN ONE APPLE WITH YOUR CHILD THAT DAY!  Thank you to Dacia Riedle, Kara Swofford, Christine Johnson, and Jessica McKeever for helping us out that day with stations.  Please arrive just before 8am so that I can explain your station to you.  We will run stations from 8-10am.

Botanical Gardens Field Trip
On Wednesday, October 18th, we will be doing a garden class about seeds, eating lunch and taking a self tour.  We will also be looking at the Chihuly art found at the garden.  Children should wear their RED ZION T-SHIRT and uniform bottoms.  Please dress for the weather and walking as we will spend a lot of time outside.  Please bring a SACK LUNCH - no peanuts or peanut butter please.  If would be best if your child didn't have to be responsible for their lunch box the whole day so if all items can be thrown away, that would be very helpful.  We will eat in a room provided for us and then go on a tour.  We will return to school around 2:30 so that we can quickly discuss our experience together.
Thank you Jessica Hoffman, Jill Taylor, Lorie Lorenz, Christie Johnson, and Stephanie Bleser for volunteering to go with us.  You are welcome to join us for Chapel at 8:10 or just come at 8:30.  We will be leaving right after Chapel at 8:45am.

Parent Conferences
I look forward to meeting with you on Thursday.  Please help keep me on time by knocking if it is your turn.

Harvest Party
For our harvest party, we will be saying THANK YOU to local first responders and rescue workers.  Our awesome room parents have put together a list of items we will need to create Thank you baskets. Please go to the link to sign up!  A permission form to visit these workers will be sent home next week.  Harvest Party Service Project

Drews Avengers
Our offering this year is going to Friends of Kids with Cancer.  On Wednesday, October 25th, we will be having a special offering.  In honor of Drew Albrittons' 8th birthday, we will be collecting superhero items and all donations will be delivered to Friends of Kids with Cancer.  Drew was a preschooler here at Zion who bravely fought cancer and how is with the biggest superhero of all - Jesus!  Please bring your superhero items to chapel on October 25.  Action figures, costumes, toys, movies, backpacks, lego sets, video games, shirts, or any items with super hero theme are all welcome.
