News and Notes:
Solar Eclipse
On Monday, our school will have a Solar Eclipse party. We will have fun stations with other classes to learn more about the eclipse. Please have your child bring a towel to sit on for lunch and viewing, bring a cold lunch (no peanut butter) or picnic lunch is available to purchase that day (for Hot Lunch), and you might want to put sunscreen on your child. We will be outside from 11:30 until 1:30. The boys and girls have already learned so much! We are looking forward to an exciting day!
Water Bottles
Your child may bring a water bottle to school to drink during the day. Please send a water bottle that has a sip type lid that pops up to keep spills to a minimum. If we have several spills and we will just keep the bottle in their backpack and get drinks from it from there. Some of the bottles form condensation and one idea is to put a sock on to cover the bottom so that our desks don't become wet. :-)
Red Daily Folder
The red folder that has come home every day this past week, we call our "Bobcat folder." Please check and remove any papers that your child has inside EVERY DAY. Your first grader will need this folder every day so please help them remember to return it the following day. This is also where you will find your child's homework each night once we start having math homework next week. (There will be no homework on weekends.)
Friday Folder
Please look in your child's Friday folder each weekend. It will be sent home each Friday. Please mark the Church/Sunday school attendance and initial, and remove all papers inside so that I know you have looked in the folder. (Church and Sunday school is ANY church, not just Zion.) Please return the folder the following Monday.
Back to School Night
It is very important that at least one parent attend the Back to School Night. There will be a lot of information about our literacy program and first grade program. You will also be able to see your chid's desk and can see some of the things they have done already. :-) First session starts at 6:30pm on Tuesday, August 22nd.
