News and Notes:

Author Visitor
To celebrate Epiphany, we will have a special guest the week we will get back. The published author, Joanne Bader, will come to our room, tell us about being an author, read a few of her books, and then autograph a book for us.  (This will kick off our unit of writing that will end with us publishing a hard bound book - more info on that to come later!)

FIeld Trip to See Play
We are taking a field trip to the Florissant Civic Center to see The Teacher From the Black Lagoon.  We will be going on January 17th.  Look for a permission form the week we get back.  I will contact the parents who are next on the Field Trip Chaperone List.  If parents I contact are unable to make it, I will continue down the list.

Thank You
Thank you to ALL the parents who drove and took the first graders Christmas shopping for Hannah.  That was no easy task and loved seeing the children excited about buying for others.  We could not have done that without all of the excellent parent help!
Thank you to Michelle Linneman and Jasmine McCartney for planning our Christmas party and for the volunteer parents who came to help!  The boys and girls had a blast and we continue to pray for Hannah Smith and her family this Christmas season!

100th Day Celebration
We are looking for a volunteer to head up our 100th day celebration with BOTH first grade classes.  This parent volunteer would organize 100th day activity stations, collect and/or purchase items needed (we have a small budget specified to this day), and communicate to volunteers.  I have these people signed up to help from our BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT sign up sheet: Heidi Erdmann, Heather Horn, Katie Ryan, Jasmine McCartney, Meghan Owens, Yvette Stegman, and Kari McCann.  The tentative date is January 24th.  PLEASE let us know if you are able to head up this fun day for the first graders!
